Official information: France is a unitary state in Western Europe, possessing various overseas territories on all continents (except Asia). The French mainland is the largest country in the European Union by area and the second-largest by population (after Germany). It encompasses the third-largest territory in Europe (after Russia and Ukraine). Paris is the capital. France has diverse coastlines: to the south, the Mediterranean Sea, and to the west/north, the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea. With an average elevation of 375 meters, France ranks 101st. The lowest point is -2 meters and the highest is 4,810 meters. |

Personal information: It took a long time for me to discover and/or develop my love for France. While I was shocked at a young age by people who didn't speak English or German on my way to Spain via France, a work placement near Nice brought me closer to the country. After various vacations throughout most of France, a work placement in Paris, short breaks, and various wine tastings, I have to say France is a truly wonderful country. I've just returned from a Disneyland stay... As written above, despite Mont Blanc with a height of 4,810 meters, only 101st place (do the overseas territories count in the statistics?). |
